A Look Back at 2022

NY Imaging Specialists expanded its practice by adding three new providers, one new location, and new state-of-the-art equipment to expand its service lines at other NY Imaging locations. Additionally, the ACR-accredited facility was recently recognized by GE Medical for implementing one of the most successful MRI Body Imaging programs in the Tri-State area. The success of the MRI program has been credited to Dr. Anthony Gilet, Chief of Breast Imaging, Dr. Matthew Comito, Radiologist, who joined this August, and Timothy Wintz, RT(R)(MR), Senior Vice President of the Eastern Division.

The practice began in 2019 to bring state-of-the-art imaging services in-house. The practice eventually grew to include several modalities, including CT, and Ultrasound. With MR, it added two SIGNA™ Pioneer 3.0T MRs. Since then, the practice has been able to perform a high volume of complex scans while maintaining a steady flow of patient volume since upgrading with newer technology.

In addition to Dr. Comito, two other radiologists joined NY Imaging this year. With the appointment of Dr. Stacey Gandhi, Breast Imaging Director, the practice has expanded its line of services for women’s health. Dr. Pejman Dalaie is a nuclear medicine physician with over eight years of experience, focused on the field of PET-CT scan, cardiac SPECT imaging, and the growing field of theranostics.

The practice also opened a women’s health facility in Port Jefferson and expanded its services to include DEXA and mammography. The practice will continue to expand its reach in 2023, opening up a state-of-the-art imaging center at 2236 Nostrand Ave, Brooklyn, and its services will include CT, MRI, PET/CT, Breast Imaging and Ultrasound.

The implementation of the INFINITT Healthcare physician portal on November 8th has helped increase productivity while maintaining patient volume. The portal conveniently allows physicians and staff to see patients’ appointments and the status of patients’ scans. The system allows for accurate diagnoses and maximizes clinical efficiency.

Dr. Michael Drabkin, Chief of Interventional Radiology, and the Interventional Radiology team completed their first full year and performed over 2,000 procedures. Dr. Drabkin offers a large variety of procedures, including arterial embolization and thermal ablation as locoregional treatment for various types of cancers. Non-oncologic interventions offered include prostate artery embolization for men with difficulty urinating due to BPH and uterine artery embolization for women with heavy menstrual bleeding due to fibroids or adenomyosis.

NY Imaging Specialists currently has 11 board-certified radiologists and nine centers equipped with various modalities, including CT, DEXA, Interventional Radiology, MRI, PET/CT, and Ultrasound.
