Dr. Tony Abraham, DO, MPA, is a skilled and experienced Nuclear Radiologist. Before joining New York Imaging Specialists, Dr. Abraham was the Director of the Nuclear Medicine Residency Program at Montefiore Medical Center and an Associate Professor of Radiology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He has extensive experience in molecular imaging, including tumor-specific imaging such as PSMA PET/CT, where he has been the number one reader of PyL PSMA (Pylarify) in the United States.
He has a broad knowledge base and experience with various therapeutic therapies, including the latest radioligand therapies, Lutathera and Pluvicto. Additionally, he was the first to set up and carry out Lutathera and Pluvicto therapies in an outpatient private practice in New York State. Dr. Abraham attended the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Osteopathy. Following this, he completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Westchester Medical Center and a residency in Internal Medicine at North Shore University Hospital/NYU School of Medicine Program.
Dr. Abraham then went on to complete a second residency in Nuclear Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. This was followed by a fellowship in PET/CT and Nuclear Oncology at the world-renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Abraham also completed a Master's in Public Administration at New York University, majoring in Health Policy and Management with a specialization in Health Finance.
Dr. Abraham’s research focuses on FDG PET/CT scans in various cancers, including lymphoma, thyroid cancer, lung cancer, gastric cancer, neuroendocrine tumors, and head and neck cancers. He has investigated applications of 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT in staging and restaging neuroendocrine cancers and using Lu-177 therapy as part of peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) for neuroendocrine cancers. He has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals, has been involved in multiple imaging research trials, and has been an invited presenter several times to the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) and Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). He also holds committee memberships and positions of leadership at local and national SNMMI and the American College of Radiology (ACR).
Dr. Abraham is board-certified by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine. He has also held board certifications in the American Board of Internal Medicine (2005-2015) and CBNC-Nuclear Cardiology Board (2006-2016). Additionally, he has been a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for several years.
