Tony Abraham, DO, MPA

Director of PET/CT and Theranostics

Dr. Tony Abraham, DO, MPA is a skilled and experienced Nuclear Radiologist.    Before joining New York Imaging Specialists, Dr. Abraham was the Director of the Nuclear Medicine Residency Program at Montefiore Medical Center, as well as an Associate Professor of Radiology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.   His clinical focus is using molecular imaging in conjunction with other imaging modalities to help in diagnosis, staging and restaging of disease processes.   He also provides various therapeutic therapies with Nuclear Medicine to optimize patient care and management in consultation with patients and referring physicians.   Dr. Abraham attended New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Osteopathy.   Following this, he completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Westchester Medical Center and a residency in Internal Medicine at North Shore University Hospital/NYU School of Medicine Program.   Dr. Abraham then went on to complete a second residency in Nuclear Medicine at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.   This was followed with a fellowship in PET/CT and Nuclear Oncology at the world renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.   Dr. Abraham also completed a Masters in Public Administration at New York University, majoring in Health Policy and Management with a specialization in Health Finance.

Dr. Abraham’s research focuses on FDG PET/CT scans in various cancers, including lymphoma, thyroid cancer, lung cancer, gastric cancer, neuroendocrine tumors, and head and neck cancers.   He has investigated applications of 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT in staging and restaging of neuroendocrine cancers and using Lu-177 therapy as part of peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) for neuroendocrine cancers.   He has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals, has been involved in multiple imaging research trials, and he has been an invited presenter several times to the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) and Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).   He also holds committee memberships and positions of leadership at local and national SNMMI and American College of Radiology (ACR).

Dr. Abraham is board-certified by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine.   He has also held board certifications in American Board of Internal Medicine (2005-2015) and CBNC-Nuclear Cardiology Board (2006-2016).
