Getting Back on Track This Fall

As the leaves start to change and busy weekends turn into packed lunches and earlier bedtimes, many families find their days settling into a steadier rhythm. At NY Imaging Specialists, we encourage our patients to use this time to schedule the imaging their doctor recommended, whether it's a routine screening or a diagnostic exam like an MRI or CT scan.

Routine screenings are done on a regular schedule before any symptoms appear. For many women, that means a yearly mammogram, which lets our radiologists compare new images with past ones. Our 3D mammography takes images in thin layers for a clearer view of breast tissue. With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it's a great time to schedule your mammogram and remind a friend, sister, or mom to do the same.

Diagnostic exams are ordered when your doctor wants a closer look at a specific concern. If you've been given an order for an MRI, CT scan, or ultrasound, each test shows our radiologists something different. MRI shows joints, the brain, and soft tissue in detail, while CT scans take cross-sectional images, often of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis. Ultrasound uses sound waves to show organs and blood flow in real time. Since some orders expire, check with your doctor's office before booking.

Follow-up imaging is also a normal part of care. Your doctor or our radiologists may suggest another scan to take a closer look or see if anything has changed. If you have regular PET or CT scans with us, now is a good time to confirm your next appointment, as staying on schedule helps your doctor and our radiologists track changes over time.

When you book with us, choose a time and location that fits your routine, whether that's near home, work, or school. For most scans, wear comfortable clothes without metal zippers or snaps. If you're coming in for an MRI, let our team know ahead of time about any implants or medical devices.

Our centers are calm and welcoming, and at NY Imaging Specialists, we are here to help whether you need one appointment or several. Contact us to book your visit or ask any questions, and let this fall be the season you get back on track.
